Donathan & Sherry Jacks Win on the Alabama River
Donathan and Sherry Jacks won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama Division 1 tournament, held May 21, 2016, on the Alabama River. Running out of Cooter’s Pond in Prattville, the team from Clanton, AL, caught five bass weighing 12.36 pounds. For the victory, they earned a check for $585. The Jacks’ caught their fish shallow using a swim jig. Sherry won the Woman’s Big Fish contest with a 4.33-pound lunker.
Taking third place, the team of Doug and Rosemarie Goodall of Wetumpka, AL, caught five bass weighing 10.10 pounds.
In fourth place, Matt and Emily Dean of McCalla, AL, caught five bass weighing 9.94 pounds.
Joseph and Dimple Clevinger rounded out the top five teams with five bass weighing 9.87 pounds. Houston Donaldson won Man’s Big Fish with a 3.99-pound kicker.
The next divisional tournament is June 4th on Lake Guntersville out of Waterfront boat ramp.
The top angling couples from across the nation earn the right to compete in the annual American Bass Anglers Couples Series National Championship tournament.
All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Contestants between 14 and 18 years old may participate with a parent’s written permission.
